Can a female clown take care of eggs, if the double-down method is used?

Double down question: The answer might just play itself out in time, but I'm wondering what is going on with the clowns taking care of another's egg. I "thought" I had one female and one male, so I gave double-downing a try this week. So far, only the female has been taking care of the eggs, and it looks like she's protecting them from the male. So my question is, is it possible to have two males in a tank, until one becomes a female...or, is it plausible a female would take care of the eggs all alone? I expect the eggs to hatch tonight. Thanks for any thoughts on the above. r/ mike
