Species description:  Thalassiosira is a marine culture with auxospores; relatively large at 10-15 µ wide by 10-20 µ long; diatom

After a couple days in a small 250mL bottle:

 
I mainly got this to try it as a potential feed for the Gymnodinium since I have read papers that show it prefers larger phytoplankton cells like tetraselmis

Well, I killed this culture over the weekend. Not the end of the world since it didn't work for what I wanted it for. I actually think it would be pretty easy to culture, assuming that you actually split it when needed...I sort of abandoned it and then when I finally did split it, it was already too far gone.
