I have an attachment for my I phone that takes some pretty nice pics of my shrimp, Its $10 on amazon. They have ones for other phones also.

Do we know for certain that this is H. elegans and not H. picta? Just curious, as the blued out photos make it impossible for me to discern.  Any chance I could pester you for clearer broodstock photos?

I'm honestly not sure what they are. When I posted this thread I knew there was two color forms, but unaware they were considered different species. 
Hystrix posted:
"I found my reference in a pdf Fiedler 1994 Larval Stages Harlequin Shrimp.
It says there are two color forms of picta. The red/maroon from the Hawaiian Islands and blue brown from the Western Indo-Pacific and Red Sea. The paper also states that shrimp from the Eastern Pacific (Panama and Costa Rica) two color forms are separate species blue being elegans and red being picta. There is no morphological basis for the separation , except color."

Yes, I believe those are fair representations of the possible 2 different species. Which one does yours look like?
