Removing Anenome from Spawning Pair
-
Wednesday, July 30, 2014 10:20 PM
Hi, I found a local guy who wants to sell his "spawned in the past" pair of clowns and their anemone. The deal is too good to pass up, but I'm concerned if I decide to pass on the anemone, the clowns won't re-spawn. Do they really get that attached?

An anemone is not necessary for them to spawn. Only advantage is that it may help them feel more comfortable ( less stress) and therefore more likely to spawn sooner.

Understood, but I'm talking about removing clowns that are paired with an anenome, not asking if all clowns need an anenome.

I had obtained a pair of onyx in the past that had been with an anemone and they resumed spawning for me without one. I also sent a pair of onyx that I kept with anemones to a friend that kept them without an anemone in a broodstock system and they spawned fine after settling in. They aren't paired to an anemone but simply using it as a host.

Convinced the owner to give me the pair without the Anenome!
