Yesterday, one of the crabs was on top of the other one, male on top, I think.  At first I thought they were mating, then I thought the big one male, was eating the little one, female. I shined a flashlight on them, and they separated, both still alive, only to do it again later. This morning, the male is dead. I didn't see a molt, so I am not sure if the female is fertilized. I don't really know what happened, but the "eiffel tower" on the male was sticking out from his abdomen when i pulled him out of the tank.  Is it the penis? Were they mating? I'm so confused.

I don't get why you think this is a good post…:0
Within a few days, the female died as well, full of black eggs, like caviar.

I may try again when I have a more suitable living arrangement for them, and with perhaps better attention to feeding them.

Male died sometime last week. This was after unsuccessfuly treating the system with Chloroquin phosphate for unknown disease that killed off two of my clownfish pairs. Female still thrives in a clean and different tank, 15 gallons, along with a surviving peppermint shrimp.  I don't know if the pair spawned before the male died, but i have a snagger in the tank continuously, just in case she, or the remaining shrimp releases larvae.
