Breeding Journal DataSheet This first post should be updated regularly to include new information as events take place or changes are made to your system General Species: Pterapogon Kauderni Social Structure: mated pair Size of Individuals: 2 inches Age of Individuals: unknown Date added to Tank: female 10/3/13, male 9/26/14 Broodstock Tank Details Size of Tank: 125 gal. Reef tank Substrate Details: live sand Filtration Details: sump with live rock, protein skimmer, and phosban reactor. Water Changes: 40 gallons every 3 weeks. Water Temperature: 78 to79 degrees Lighting:T5 Lighting Cycle: 11hrs on, 13hrs off Other Tank Inhabitants: coral beauty, blue hippo tang, yellow tang, sailfin tang, green mandarin, red scooter blenny, pajama cardinals, yellow goby, and 2 ocelaris clowns. Broodstock Feeding Details Food Types: mysis shrimp, brine live and frozen, blood worms. Feeding Schedule: 3 times a day. Spawning Details Date of First Spawn: October 9th,2014 Spawn Time of Day: 1:00 pm Dates of Consecutive Spawns: Dec 9th, 2014 Courtship Details: pair stayed together. Egg Size: 1/16th of an inch. Egg Color: tanish Egg Count: unknown Hatch Details Hatch Date: October 27th, 2014 Hatch Time of Day: some time in the morning. I noticed male had little tails in his mouth in the afternoon. # Days after Spawn: around 17 or 18 days. Larvae Description:little replicas of parents. Consecutive Hatch Dates: Dec 30, 2014 Larval Tank Details Temperature: 78 to 79 degrees. Size of Larval Tank: larval in fine mesh fish net breeder in reef tank. Substrate Details: fine mesh Other Tank Decor: none Filtration Details: same Filtration as reef tank Lighting: T5 Lighting Cycle: 11hrs on 13hrs off. Water Changes: none since spawn. Larval Feeding Details Food Types: bbs Feeding Schedule: 3 times a day. Metamorphosis/Settlement Date of Settlement Start: November 1, 2014 Days after Hatch: 5 days Date of Settlement End: November 1, 2014 Description of Fry: perfect replicas of parents Grow-Out Tank Details Temperature: 80° F Size of Grow-Out Tank: 20 gallon Substrate Details: none Other Tank Decor: 1 piece of live rock. Filtration Details: sump with live rock, and protien skimmer. Lighting: old 4' aquarium light. Lighting Cycle: 14hrs on 12hrs off. Water Changes: 10% biweekly. Size at Transfer: 1/4 inch Age at Transfer: 50DPH. Grow-Out Feeding Details Food Types: TDO Feeding Schedule: 3 to 4 times a day. Additional Information At first all these little ones would only eat live and frozen BBS. When i finally got them switched to TDO I never had anymore die. And they started growing a lot faster. I had my first one die today. It wouldn't eat like the rest of them. It was also half the size of the others

Very nice! They all look great. I always love it when they finally figure out that we are the source of their food, and come running up when we approach the tank. Keep up the good work!

Bad news  I had to leave for a week and my wife tried everything she could to try to take care of the little ones. bless her heart. But by the time I came home. I went from 15 down to 1. And when I arrived home after work today I lost my last one.

The good news is that once they start they will generally keep going for a while so you should have another opportunity in a few weeks.
