Different age Larvae - Monday, March 2, 2015 9:56 PM

Hi, so I have one set of larvae going through Meta, some that a little behind and then another next about to hatch, and then another one following it from another pair. Is it a bad idea to keep all the larvae in the same BRT? I was thinking I could pull the post meta clowns out since they are less fragile and I don't think the new larvae will be able to compete with them for rotifers. Also, I don't want my older larvae to go back to rotifers, or is that no a valid concern.

I'm just thinking of saving space, electricty (funny I know right) , some effort, and things like rotifers. I realize I'll need more rotifers for more larvae, but it's easier to keep one BRT stocked with rotifers than it is to keep two. I'm literally running out of room to plug things in... I should probably heat the room and ditch some of the heaters.

Is it a bad idea to keep various age larvae together?

BTW, with everyone's help I've been able to get 30 larvae to 8 DPH, with around 3 through meta, 20 or so in transtion, and 7 or so stragglers. Couldn't do it without you guys and girls. I think my next batch will be much better, since I now know exactly what to do rather than having to ask a bunch of questions on the fly.

I haven't raised a lot, but I suspect you will get better outcomes if the different broods are seperated.
