hermit crab larvae? - Thursday, April 2, 2015 10:43 AM

I just found these larvae in my overflow strainer this morning.  I think they are hermit crabs, but would appreciate if someone with more expertise would weigh in. I have both blue leg & red leg hermits in my display tank. No other crabs (that I know of).   If they are, any thoughts on first foods?  I've never raised crabs, just peppermint shrimp.

Yes they look like hermit crab larvae.  I would think you could maybe due 24hr airtime nauplii.  If they are too big then try rotifers or copepods.  I read an aquaculture book that crabs have a shorter planktonic stage than shrimp but I can remember how long.
