How old should clownfish juveniles be before they are old enough to go to their new homes?  Is this just a question of their size really?  I know stores want them bigger because bigger fish are easier to sell, and easier to keep in the display with other fish. Of course they need to be big enough to stay safe from other fish and pumps etc.  But if someone is willing to take small clownfish just a few months old for their nano tank is there anything wrong with this?  3/4" and 1" clowns seem just as hardy and healthy as the bigger ones.  Just wondered what the average age was for you guys.

I usually send mine out when they're an inch long. Or at least thats when I start offering them for sale.

1" is the usual size for most stores although some like them smaller.

Ocellaris?  Mine are 1" by 3 1/2 months.  That's when they start going out.   Percula grow a bit slower, and I don't let them go until they have a reasonable amount of black on them, so they start leaving around 5 months and will be 1.25 - 1.5".
