Culturing Journal DataSheet This first post should be updated regularly to include new information as events take place or changes are made to your system General Species: Parvocalanus crassirostris Species description: small, pelagic calanoid copepod. The nauplii (newly hatched larvae) are small measuring in the 40-100 µm range, making them a suitable feed for small-gape fish larvae. Adults are in the 200 to 400 µm range Culture source (link if possible ): If algae, CCMP # (Optional ): http://ccmp.bigelow.edu/ Culture Establishment Date: August 2014 Continuation Date: June 2015 Culturing Vessel Details Salinity: 1.021 Temperature: room temp kept at 73-78 pH: 8.2 Vessel description: 5 gallon white buckets with loose lid with hole top Lighting description: overhead room light only Lighting cycle: 10 hours per day Aeration description: slow bubble 1-2 per second Methodologies Split methodology: harvest copepods daily weekly we strain the culture with a 55 micron screen and use what we have left to start a new 5 gallon bucket Culture medium description: We feed approximately 250 ml of isochrysis 1 to 2x per day to keep culture lightly clouded Cell count: up to 80 / ml Reference links: Additional Information (No Pictures or Videos in the Section Please) Notes: We have 7 cultures going We have never lost any They do not do well if you let the culture go too long You will be required to provide photographic evidence and as much detail as possible about your project in this thread.
