Dominate picasso male nipping female, wont let her lay eggs.

Ok, this pair is weird. The male is the dominate in the pair. they both sleep in the pot at night, but during the day, the female is not allowed to go close to the pot.
they have been laying for a few times, but every time the female end up with nipped fins and lose scales. and only a small part of the nest was fertilized.
anyway to fix them? i tried to pair the male with another female, same thing happend... the new female was kicked out...
maybe need to replace that weird male or turn it into female?
