There was a large algae screen on the top of the tank (a large horse water trough). The cardinals hid underneath at all times, so there was no real opportunity to observe and document.

I ran across these and bought them during my house remodel, so they spent quite a bit of time in temporary tanks in my office. As noted above, the parents stayed hidden pretty much all the time. But, one day baby Banggais showed up, so I think I can safely assume they spawned.
