Spawn Details
Pre-Spawn Behavior: |
Female will be very gravid in the morning at lights on. Male shows marked color change. The top half of his body will turn brown, and the bottom half will turn bright white. He will flash and dive around the tank in front of the female. Sometimes chasing her. He darts in and out of the PVC fitting trying to get her to enter.
Spawning Behavior:
Spawning is very quick. Female will deposit most all of the eggs, and then the male will follow behind to fertilize them. The whole process seems to just take a few minutes.
Post Spawn Behavior:
Male occasionally checks on the eggs, but is not overly attentive to them.

Eggs are a light orange color, then transition to dark grey and to silver as the fry develop. They are deposited close together in a tight group. New spawns are mixed in with previously laid yet to hatch spawns.
Location:
Eggs are laid in a white PVC 90 degree elbow fitting on the side wall. They have also begun laying eggs in pvc pipes and other PVC fittings. Currently using 1" fittings, but they do not seem to be too picky.
