It is my understanding that these species are different than other cardinals, since the babies are released as planktonic fry. What would be the best choice for food sources for the fry through their development? If anyone has had any experience with these, please feel free to share your experience. I am a total newbie, so I didn't know if there was a specific strain or type of rotifier or copepod that would be best recommended? From what I can identify, it appears that there are 2 females and 3 males. I read that the males have longer dorsal fins, so if this is true, I should hopefully get 2 breeding pairs.   These guys have been nicely acclimatizing at my LFS for about a month, all were eating and look like they are in mint condition. So far my 5 cardinals are now reduced to 3. I think I have one male and 2 females.  I believe the male has the longer dorsal fin, where the other two seem shorter.     The two passed about a month ago, about a two weeks apart. I didnt notice any active aggression, but the these two were always passive when it came to feeding time. I don't think they were holding any eggs either?     For the last month the trio has been eating very well. I'm keeping an eye for any mating behaviour. They are in about 20 gallons with a few small rocks.
