Yeah, yeah I know its not the normal around here - but I think I've found the only coral that will survive my feeding schedule!

And to keep this on topic (somewhat!)  I think I've found my version of the Aiptasia filter for broodstock tanks:  Sun Coral!

Lol thanks.  We got an insane aussie/pacific order of corals (44 boxes) from the transhipper sunday night.  All the non-photo stuff is coming home with me - owner of the shop doesn't want to feed his tanks  So I'll have about four or five more tennis ball sized ones to place in that tank. A couple carnation corals too - hope they will make it!

What an awesome idea! It's the perfect  coral for me.  I have less than brilliant lights.

this a couple of mine....this tank has them all over the place..different flavors and all..

My green in the bottom picture bailed out when I moved it to this tank..it is still recovering..thus the expose skeleton in some places.

sometimes if food settles between the polyps it will cause some necrosis in the area, a little bit of tissue drop here and there seems fine it's when it is sustained.  Other than that, it's a very hearty coral when fed well, and really blowing settled food off a coral takes three seconds so long as your watching!  The display of the coral itself is worth it!  Remember, these are considered only for "expert" care...  riiiigght.... just goes to show how much cooler we tank feeders are.

Hey All
I keep a colony in each of my brood stock tanks.  They are in high demand.  Once you get them healthy, they will actually spawn as well & you will find baby sun corals popping up all over the place.

I keep my tanks in moderate flow, so I dont have a problem with food getting lodged in anywhere.  I feed a variety of mysis, cyclopeeze, and pellets and never spot feed the coral.  I even have some black sun coral which many people say are impossible to keep.

I suggest everyone start adding some pieces if they can.

Lovely, y'all! I love them, too. They were the first coral to spawn for me and really propelled me down the twisty road of encouraging captive reproductive behaviors that I'm on today.

I find blacks easier to care for than the greens.  But many people don't seem to know the difference between the two.  Even the green I have the guy I bought it from insisted it was a black.
