So I think my new female addition may have stimulated some breeding activity again. She was out of QT & into the tank a week ago. This afternoon I checked my overflow strainer & found about 20 eggs. This pic is about 17 hours post spawn time (spawning not witnessed). I put the eggs in a small cup in my sump & will check development tomorrow. I'm really not set up to make a run with this small batch - will have to ramp up my parvo, t-iso, etc, which I have neglected during the "dry spell".

Collected a bunch of eggs this early this morning and just checked them a little while ago after I got home, and had a pretty large hatch. These are the most active prolarvae I have seen compared to previous hatches. I'll post a video I took with my iphone of a bunch in a little plastic cup (my hatching vessel). Quite a few can be seen swimming. Still not really ready to try to raise them yet. Hopefully my trio stays productive! Below is a zoomed in iphone photo.

Very cool. Looks just like the ones Tom gave me yesterday. Today they have lost their dark line of spots.

Kathy, I'll be watching closely how yours do. I'm still trying to recover my cultures so I can feed them someday!

We have eyes (approx 84 hours). Found about 5-6 swimming around still in their little 4 ounce world. I have put a few drops of t-iso and a few drops from my struggling Parvo culture starting on day 2. The first is a 10x pic under the scope, the second a zoomed iPhone pic. Still not much hope these will last much longer without any real food, but maybe I can get an idea of starvation time (vs death by my own mishandling). It is really cool to see daily development though - yesterday I saw the discrete heartbeat for the first time.

Mine are soon to follow that dismal path. I just cleaned out most of the dead ones from the cup. I saw at least 2 swimmers (easier to see now that they have their little black eyes). I took a look at one under the scope & could see little pectoral fins developing, and could clearly see the eye lens (much better detail of the eye under the scope than this pic. They are about 90 hours now. Doubt they will make it to the official 4 day 96 hour mark. I wonder if the death is lack of first foods, or just the conditions.

looks like there is something in the gut, and the mouth looks open…It could be that 4 oz is not enough.

All gone now. Once I have a solid food culture, I'll make a "real" attempt in a 1 liter container.

Well, they seem to be divorced again. I hadn't tried to collect eggs for a while after my last post (combination of work, family stuff, and a stomach virus). My Parvo & t-iso are cranked up & ready (thanks to Daniel), and now that I looking for eggs, I haven't collected any for about the last 10 days..... Just did some tank cleaning and water change today, I'll see if that makes them more amorous.
