I'm certainly no expert, but I would be excited about metamorphosis!

I can't find any shrimps. It's a pretty busy tub, and there is lots of algae coating the sides, and these guys go transparent when they meta, so it is possible, but not likely that I've succeeded here. Sad to say after 5 weeks of cheering them on, but it is my first real attempt at raising them, and I came pretty far, so I'm disappointed, but not discouraged.

Mine were nearly invisible when the first underwent meta. Careful searching with a flashlight would find their little glowing eyes hiding about. I bet you have some in there! Keep the faith!

I doubt that very much, but frankly, the goby tub where they all ended up is so full of flying gunk, algae and gobies, they could be hiding, but chances are very good that they all perished trying to metamorphosize in a cruddy environment. Seems to be OK for gobies, in fact it is the best batch I've ever had, but perhaps not appropriate for shrimp. Worth a try, though.

So, I had a tub all ready for Watchman Gobies, but they all died, so I threw a few Darwin ocellaris in there, and they have just about hit metamorphosis, when the bogessi decided to molt and hatch some babies. I added the snagged hatchlings to the tub, and 24 hours later, they seem to have molted, and done well. Eyes are on stalks, and they are flying around, and seem to occasionally strike at food. I'm weaning the clownfish to Oto A, so that's in there, as well as two sizes of rotifers, and all the 5 kinds of copepods, or at least the ones that survive being prey to the clownfish. I started hatching my decamped brine shrimp when I discovered the shrimplets in the snagger, so I just started adding NHBBS this morning, 24 hours later.

They seem to all still be in there. Growing. 4 more weeks is a long time to wait, but this tub is a lot less crowded than the last one, so maybe I have a hope. I siphon out the gunk on the bottom twice a week, and if I keep it, I can decant off a fair number of copepods to add back to the tub, and replenish the container with fresh saltwater, and generate more in a day or so. Love euterpina.

Good luck! If you came that close the first time, I have no doubt you'll get them down very soon.

Well, at 29 days, I thought I lost them all. Couldn't find any, so I stopped feeding the tank brine shrimp and pondered what to do with 5 misbarred black ocellaris juvies. Still haven't moved them, but now at boggessi day 33, I saw a shrimp flying around in there. So I fed the tank some flake, siphoned the bottom and hope for he best. Today, the boggessi larvae seems to have lost it's spear legs, but eyes are still on stalks. There is some color to the body. I have a 50/50 shot in the next day or two, at hitting metamorphosis for this species. One of the parental shrimps died, the other parent is still holding eggs, so I get one more batch of larvae before I have to go buy another shrimp. I want this to work!

No luck on the 5 week single larvae. Couldn't even find a body this morning or evening. The last spawn of the remaining shrimp happened last night, adn I snagged them. Have them in a 2 gallon fishbowl, NHbrine shrimp this evening. We shall see.

Day 10? Yesterday I decided they needed a water change, so I siphoned out the crud at the bottom, carefully replacing the shrimps that travelled down the siphon tube, and poured in the replacement water, instead of dripping it in. Probably a mistake. Many fewer shrimps in the bowl this morning. Long spear legs on the survivors.

Either A. Rhyne or R. Calado, can't remember, wrote a paper that was published about the growth of peppermints on NHBS compared to NHBS transitioned to older enriched BS. There were no differences, so I'm going the easy way, NHBS all the way.

Perhaps a more sanitary environment would be beneficial for these?

Perhaps. This fishbowl is a lot more sanitary than the goby tub was. The remaining shrimp continue to grow and eat and survive, though there are just a few. I only need one!
